News and Highlights from the Menasha Joint School District
While students may not be in class over the summer months, the staff members of the Menasha Joint School District are hard at work preparing for the 2019-20 school year. This is also an opportunity for us to reflect on the past school year, including some recent news in which we can take a lot of pride.
Here are just a few recent highlights we'd like to share:
Menasha student logs perfect score on ACT
Menasha High School junior Benjamin Thiel scored a perfect 36 on the ACT exam this spring. He hopes to pursue a career in the medical field and, thanks to his incredible score, we don’t doubt that he will be able to achieve whatever academic goal he sets for himself. Congratulations, Benjamin!
MHS hosts author of 'Evicted'
Menasha High School was proud to host New York Times best-selling author Matthew Desmond to discuss his renowned book, Evicted. In this pulitzer-prize winning book, the author describes the complicated factors that contribute to displacement and the issues faced by families in Milwaukee who are facing eviction. Audience members had the opportunity to learn more about the book and ask questions of the author to find out more about the themes and concepts presented.
Menasha student places at mathematics problem-solving contest
In April, about 1,200 students from 50 schools across Wisconsin came together for the UW-Oshkosh Mathematical Problem-Solving Contest. The event gives students the opportunity to apply their knowledge of mathematics and consider further study of STEM subjects in higher education. We’re proud to announce that one of our Menasha students, Wilson Lyke, took home bronze at the competition!
These are just a few of the positive things happening in the Menasha Joint School District! To stay up to date and engaged, we encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Thank you for being part of #BluejayNation!
